The Story Begins with This Cup of Tea

"Farming the Earth" – transforming soil into fields. It means tilling the land to cultivate plants, to grow the vegetables, fruits, ingredients, and teas that people need. It allows the energy of life to be continuously replenished, making life more diverse and vibrant. If, however, these fields are covered with concrete, dug tens of meters deep, filled with cement, and built upon, restoring them to their original agricultural function could take tens or even hundreds of times more effort and money to recover perhaps seventy or eighty percent of their former utility. And this is a conservative estimate. There are few examples worldwide of concreted land being successfully reclaimed for farming; it's simply not economically viable, and in the end, it may be impossible to restore. The founder of Farming the Earth spent about six years in the mountains and came to understand the profound significance of farmers protecting the soil and cultivating with dedication. Through natural eating and natural drinking, using the Tea Tao (Way of Tea) of "Farming the Earth," we engage in a dialogue with the world. We aim to let the world recognize the importance of farmers and the soil, and to cherish the life and harvests we have in the present moment.

The experience of tasting a cup of tea – its aroma, its flavor, its texture – stirs the senses. Everything begins with the soil. Through the tea farmer's cultivation and management, accumulated over years of experience, and by choosing the right plant for the right place, the tea's character is further enhanced. Farming the Earth focuses primarily on Oolong tea, hoping to introduce the public to the joys of this tea and, in turn, to appreciate the profound experience that tea leaves can offer.

It is about cultivating the mind. Allow your restless heart to settle as you brew a pot of tea. Savor it mindfully, giving your hurried life a moment of respite. Stroll leisurely through the tea water, steal a cup of tea's worth of time to wander peacefully through your busy day.

Too little tea, too little water, water not hot enough, not enough time – the tea will be weak and tasteless. Too much tea, water too hot, steeping too long – bitterness and astringency will soon follow. But with the right amount of tea, at the right water temperature, brewing patiently and without haste, completing each step with care – then you can enjoy a cup of tea with perfect ease and contentment.

Gather with a few good friends, brew a pot of tea, and let the conversation flow, sharing stories and experiences of life. When alone, one pot and one cup allow for a dialogue with the tea itself. The sour, sweet, bitter, salty, and savory notes of life find solace, calm, and peace through this one cup.
